Taare Zameen Par and a chat

There is a scene in the film Taare Zameen Par in which it is diwali and everyone except Ishaan is celebrating. Some kids tease him saying that since he is being sent to boarding school he must be feeling very scared. Ishaan is in tears and its evident that it really is so. But to prove the boys wrong he picks up a cracker and lights it in his hand and shouts "Mujhe darr nahi lagta!".

The reason because of which this scene stayed with me was because it reminded me of a chat I had with a friend a long time ago. We were discussing how almost all of us have two different faces. One which cries when hurt and another by which we project ourselves as cool and strong however difficult the situation.

Whenever our second face takes charge we are able to refrain from confessing to anyone how unprepared and inadequate we may be feeling at that moment to solve our problems. Despite our misgivings we are willing to bear the albatross alone as we do not wish to take any help which we believe would be a sign of weakness. But there are instances when we do break down and end up giving others a peek into our true emotions. My friend said that this happens because we are unable to keep the two faces separate.

Is it really possible to keep the two sides independent of each other? Wouldn't one of them always dominate us?

What would happen if we could master this art? Would it give us an edge over others? Would we still be real or become artificial?

Heart questions

Is it better to let go than to hold on?
Is it better to give up on someone or give a second chance?
Is it better to wait or to move on?
Is it better to hide your memories some place
than dreaming endlessly perhaps?
Is it better to always be on your own than to be left alone?
Is it better to be happy with a few rain drops than to wish for heavy showers to fall?
It might really have been better to not have loved at all!

P.S.: Why am I always at a loss when wanting to write a happy poem???????
P.P.S: How is the poem anyway?

Quotation for Valentine's Day

Found this really sweet quotation in Times of India (again!!) today:

Love does not make the world go round.
But it surely makes the ride worthwhile.

Jab We Met again

For some reason the movie Jab We Met has grown me on. I guess in a year filled with insipid films it was a surprisingly simple romantic tale. Besides I love its music. Since Daddy gifted me the audio cd I've been listening to it practically everyday. All the numbers are different and you can choose a song depending on your mood. If you want to dance away your blues then you've got Nagada Nagada and Mauja Hi Mauja overflowing with energy. If you want to land in a dream world then Tum Se Hi will do the trick. Whenever I hear the song Aao Milon Chale I feel like going away on a road trip. Yeh Ishq Hai... always makes me feel happy while Aaoge Jab Tum O Saajana... though a classical sad song also talks of hope.

I am putting here lyrics of two of my favourites from the above mix.

Aaoge jab tum o saajana

Music: Sandesh Shandilya
Lyrics: Irshat Kamil
Singer: Ustad Rashid Khan

Aaoge jab tum o saajana
Angana phool khilenge
Barsega saawan barsega saawan
Jhoom jhoom ke
Do dil aise milenge
Aaoge jab tum o saajana...

Naina tere kajarare hain
Nainon pe hum dil haare hain
Anjaane hi tere nainon ne
Waade kiye kai saare hain
Saanson ki ley
Madham chale
Tose kahe
Barsega saawan...

Chanda ko taakoon raaton mein
Hai zindagi tere haathon mein
Palkon pe jhilmil taare hain
Aana bhari barsaaton mein
Sapno ka jahaan
Hoga khila khila
Barsega saawan...

Tum se hi

Music: Pritam
Lyrics: Irshat Kamil
Singer: Mohit Chauhan

Na hai yeh paana
Na khona hi hai
Tera na hona jaane
Kyon hona hi hai
Tumse hi din hota
Surmai shaam aati hai
Tumse hi tumse hi
Har ghadi saans aati hai
Zindagi keh laati hai
Tumse hi tumse hi
Na hai yeh...

Aankhon mein aankhen teri
Baahon mein baahein teri
Mera na mujhme kuch raha
Hua kya?
Baaton mein baatein teri
Raatein saugaate teri
Kyon tera sab kuch ho gaya
Hua kya?
Main kahin bhi jaata hoon
Tumse hi mil jaata hoon
Tumse hi tumse hi
Shor mein khamoshi hai
Thodi si behoshi hai
Tumse hi tumse hi

Aadha sa waada kabhi
Aadhe se zyaada kabhi
Ji chaahe kar loon is tarah
Wafa ka
Chode na choote kabhi
Tode na toote kabhi
Jo dhaaga tumse judh gaya
Wafa Ka
Main tera sarmaaya hoon
Jo bhi main ban paaya hoon
Tumse hi tumse hi
Raastein mil jaate hain
Manzilein mil jaati hain
Tumse hi tumse hi
Na hai yeh...
